Ban on Imports to China – good info

July 31st, 2008 by Wendy Pease

ALERT: Ban on some imports into China

Due to concerns over terrorism during the upcoming Olympics China has been severely restricting certain imports and will continue to do so until the end of September. Some products are being stopped at the border and not being allowed entrance into China until October.

Here’s what being restricted:

1. Liquids in small packages- not being allowed into China at all.

2. Hazardous materials- very restricted and many not being allowed into China.

3. Small packages- being severely scrutinized by Customs, with many not being allowed into China.

It appears that the normal, cargo-sized shipments of non-hazardous liquids don’t seem to be affected.

We recommend to all companies shipping any products into China check with both your importer and your freight forwarder regarding enhanced restrictions before shipping.
